Global Youth  Programme

A. Global Youth Fellowship for Young Scholars

 

* Purpose

 

  This Programme is designed to support young scholars from the Global South who are going to participate in the 10th World Congress of Constitutional Law in Seoul.

 

 

* Eligibility

 

(a)  A resident of one of the countries under the category of groub b on the list we provide.

(b) Submission of proposal for the Congress.

(c) Letter of recommendation from either a senior Professor or Head of department or Dean of the faculty of the university or institution that the applicant belongs to.

 

Places: Around 70 applicants subject to the budget limit

* Financial Support

 

 A wide range of financial support to cover the whole or partial airfare and registration fee will be provided depending upon the applicants’ region and economic circumstances through the selection process by the Korean Organizing Committee. Those whom the above amount is not sufficient to attend WCCL in Seoul may apply for more funding though the extra support could not be guaranteed. Final decision will be notified in due course via Email (organizing_committee@wccl2018-seoul.org).

B. Global Intensive Programme for Young Leading Scholars

 

 

* Purpose

 

  This Programme is designed to support young scholars who are interested in one week Intensive Training Programme together with the Congress Attendance.

 

 

* Eligibility

 

(a)  A resident of one of the countries under the category of groub b on the list we provide.

 

  To check the category,  Click here ->

 

(b) Submission of proposal for the Congress.

(c) Letter of recommendation from either a senior Professor or Head of department or Dean of the faculty of the university or institution that the applicant belongs to.

(d) Presentation of a country report regarding the constitutional system and contemporary issues of each country during the intensive program (this will be notified to the participants in advance).

 

Places: Around 30 applicants subject to the budget limit

* Support Range

 

  Accommodation and meals for two weeks (WCCL + training program) together with a wide range of financial supports up to 1,300 US Dollar to cover basically airfare and registration fee will be provided for selected applicants.

Welcome to “Global Youth Intensive Program of Organizing Committee of the 10th World Congress of Constitutional Law”

 

 

Global Youth Intensive Program (GYIP) is the first attempt to have a meaningful relationship between famous Korean Constitutional Law Scholars and worldwide young scholars through well-selected lectures about Korean Constitutional Court’s famous Cases and the theory of international Human Rights.

 

Every participant in GYIP will enjoy excellent lectures and impressive field trips during a week.

 

Also all of you will experience beautiful Korean Culture.

 

GYIP Program follows as like below.

 

Saturday & Sunday(6.23-24): Cultural Experience in oldest Palaces of Jo Seon Dynasty and Yongin Korean Old Folk Village.

 

●Monday (6.25)

 

♦Morning Class: The title of this lecture will be “Commonality and Diversity of Constitutional Systems in the world.”

The instructor is a famous professor in Korea, Kim, Jongcheol. He graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science. Also he is a professor of Law School, Yonsei University.

 

♦Afternoon Class: The title of this lecture will be “Judicial System of Korea: Supreme Court and Constitutional Court”.

The instructor is a famous professor in Korea, Lim, Jibong. He graduated from University of California at Berkeley School of Law. (JSD) Also he is a professor of Law School, Sogang University.

 

♦Welcoming Dinner Party: Prof. JaeHwang JEONG, a chairman of Organizing Committee will prepare great dinner party for all of you.

 

Tuesday (6.26)

 

♦Morning Class: The title of this lecture will be “Politics and Constitution: Participatory Democracy and Constitution”.

The instructor is a famous professor, Lee, Kukwoon. He graduated from Seoul National University School of Law.

Also he is a professor of Law Department, Handong University.

 

♦Another Morning Class: The title of this lecture will be “Impeachment of President and Constitution: Korean Case”.

The instructor is Kim, Jin Wook, at the Constitutional Research Institute of Constitutional Court of Korea. He is a director of Education Team in that Institute.

 

♦Afternoon Class: The title of this lecture will be “Major Constitutional Cases for Human Rights Protection in Korea.”

The instructor is Dr. Ye, Seungyeon, a professor of Constitutional Research Institute. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

 

♦Another Afternoon Class: The title of this class is the same thing above.

The instructor is Dr. Lee, Seok-Min, a Senior Research Officer of Constitutional Research Institute of Constitutional

Court of Korea.

 

Wednesday(6.27)

 

♦Morning Class: The title will be “Human Rights Protection:

Theory and Practice”.

The instructor is a famous professor in Korea,            Moon, Jae wan. He graduated from Indiana University School of Law.(SJD) Also He is a American lawyer and a professor of Law School, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

 

♦Another Morning Class: The title of this lecture will be “International and Regional Coherence for the Protection of Human Rights”.

The instructor is Dr. Park, Sung-Nam, a director of  Division of International Human Rights in National Human Rights Commission of Korea.

 

♦Afternoon Class: The title of this lecture will be “Global Constitutionalism and World Constitution for the Protection of Human Rights and Human Dignity”.

 

The instructor is a famous professor in Korea, CHO, Byung-Yoon. He graduated from the 2nd Paris University of France. Also he is an Emeritus Chairman of Organizing Committee.

 

Thursday(6.28): Impressive Field Trip Day

 

♦Morning trip: You will visit Institute of Justice in which Prosecutors, Correction Officials, and Immigration Officials should be trained.

Especially Correction Training Center in the Institute prepared ‘Model Prison’. Absolutely it will be awesome and impressive.

 

♦Afternoon trip:  You will visit Korean Legislation Research

Institute in which they research drafts of law, write and publish academic articles about legislation.

Also you will tour the governmental buildings of Administrative Capital of Korea, Sejong Cheongsa.

 

 

Friday(6.29): Presentation & Sharing Experience

 

♦Presentation & Sharing Experience

You can talk about your countries’ legal system.

Also you can speak about GYIP experience during a wonderful week. It will be tremendous sharing time.

 

♦Leader of Morning session is Rhee, Woo-Young.

She graduated from Stanford University School of Law.

Also she is a professor of Seoul National University School of Law and an American Lawyer.

 

♦Leader of Afternoon session is Dr. Choe, Yukyong.

She graduated from University of California at Berkeley School of Law (JSD). Also she is a senior Researcher of Korean Legislation Research Institute.
